About Mario
I’m a full professor (tenured) with the Department of Computer Science at Aalto University and a senior DevOps consultant at Eficode.
I do research on network systems – broadly defined. My goal is to understand and develop software technologies, particularly in the context of mobile, cloud, and embedded systems. I’m also deeply interested in the design of efficient and practical solutions with impact on everyday life.
Myself in a nutshell
I’m currently working on the Internet of things, tiny machine learning, and platform engineering.
I joined Aalto University as a postdoctoral researcher in 2012. I entered the tenure track as assistant professor in August 2013 and became full professor in April 2022. I was a visiting associate research scholar with the Department of Electrical Engineering at Princeton University between December 2015 and April 2016, hosted by Mung Chiang.
Before Aalto, I was a research associate with the Department of Computer Science and Enginnering at the University of Texas at Arlington, hosted by Sajal K. Das. I received my bachelor, master, and PhD from the University of Pisa under the supervision of Giuseppe Anastasi.
